This adorable little bird, Bertie, travels through the seasons month by month. From Bonnie Sullivan of All Through the Night, this block of the month finishes 13'' x 17'' each month making it easy to display individually or combined together to make a quilt. Due to the high demand of this block of the month, Bertie's Year will only be available as a block of the month until January 31. You must sign up by the January 31 to secure your spot in the block of the month program.

The original "Divas" themselves will be hosting a trunk show and book signing at Happiness Is ... Quilting! this Friday, Jan. 10, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are showing quilts from the book, History Repeated, as well as their Diva quilts that didn't make it into the book. Quilts, Quilts, Quilts: Beginning Patchwork
Join M.J. for this comprehensive look at beginning quilting from the ground up beginning Thursday, Jan. 16, from 6-9 p.m. M.J. has 50 years of quilting experience and is a master quilter. She will teach you how to make a quilt you will be proud to show off.

No quilting experience necessary. You will spend part of the first class reviewing your machine and getting it set up. After you complete this four week class you will have mastered the following:
  • basic terminology (used in patterns)
  • selecting fabric
  • choosing the right tools
  • use of a rotary cutter for precision cutting
  • techniques for machine piecing
  • how to finish your quilt

Stitching Society with Janet
A fun new monthly hand embroidery club with Janet Lindsey starts the end of this month! We are offering two sessions: one on Sundays, from 2-5 p.m. beginning Jan. 26 and one on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. starting Jan. 29. Each month a new technique and skill will be introduced in a fun format that can be joined together at the end of the year! The projects are designed by Amy McClellan of Under the Garden Moon and are delightful!
