Redwork birds flutter & sing on this 52.5" square quilt. Uncomplicated embroidery and large, simple piecing make it a quick & easy project. Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill Studio has created another wonderful quilt design which we just had to share as a Block of the Month.
The fabrics utilized from the "Rouenneries" fabric line by French General (Kaari Meng) from Moda, were made to be used for heirloom quilts - which is what your finished project is destined to become! The selection of different textures and prints with soft faded reds and soothing creams, ticking stripes, and Provencial checks, blends together to provide a perfect "frame" for the embroidered birds that are the highlight of each block.
Each month you will receive the fabric, floss, and full size embroidery pattern to trace - every thing needed to create that month's redwork block:

Enjoy creating a new redwork bird block each month and then finish the quilt with simple four patches. Each monthly kit contains the fabrics for the bird block and a four-patch block, with the 12th month's kit containing fabrics for the last bird block, two four-patch blocks, borders and binding. Muslin to back the redwork squares is optional and is not included in the supplied fabrics.
