HIQ Divas Program
|
|
We are pleased to announce a new group forming at our shop: The HIQ Divas! We will work through the block exchanges in the book, History Repeated, by authors and experienced block exchange divas, Betsy Chutchian and Carol Staehle. The book features gorgeous, antique 19th-century quilts and has great advice concerning block exchange programs. We love the quote from Carol: 'Do your best work and choose your best fabrics...Give what you would like to receive'.
Of course, as 'divas' we want to exchange accurately pieced and sized blocks with one another! To ensure fabulous results, we ask that our participants:
- Use reproduction, quilt shop-quality fabrics.
- Turn in part of the block for measurement accuracy at our shop by a specified date.
- Make a requested number of blocks to exchange by a specified date using color and pattern guidelines. You can drop your finished blocks off at the shop on or before the exchange date so we can facilitate the swap.
Our first block is this 9 1/2" Double Nine-Patch on page 19.
 | This block has
Five, 3 ½” 9-patches: white or ecru(4) & brown(5)
Four 3 ½” squares that are pinks or reds
To participate, turn in a sample 3 ½” 9-patch at our shop for approval on or before 2/1/13. Be sure to attach your name, phone, and email.
We plan to have a maximum of 20 participants for this exchange, and will confirm with participants the number of blocks each will make.
-Blocks are due Friday, April 5! Keep an eye out for more details coming at you.

Next block:
Flying Geese Blocks, p. 11.
| The next Diva project you can get in on is Flying Geese (chapter 1 project in History Repeated).
Any non-divas interested should submit a 3"x6" finished size flying
geese block for MJ's inspection by May 1. If you pass and become a Diva
(or already a Diva and want to continue with the group), you'll make 100
3"x6" finished size flying geese blocks. We have papers and rulers to
help make these geese fly through your machine with ease. |
